Physical rehabilitation for dogs is very similar to physical therapy for people, it can help to reduce pain, and improve strength, flexibility, endurance and overall function. At DogFit, we combine a range of therapies to support your dog in rehabilitation and recovery from injury or surgery.

Therapy services depend on the program that is best suited for your dog.

For best results, booking an initial assessment will enable us to set the right program for your dog's recovery, rehabilitation or goals. Talk to us today to find out how we can help your dog.

Canine Myotherapy

Canine myotherapy is a hands-on, non-invasive physical therapy for dogs, using massage and exercise to alleviate musculoskeletal pain, dysfunction, and imbalances. It can improve mobility, circulation, and overall well-being by addressing muscle tension and promoting natural healing.

It's a complementary therapy similar to human physiotherapy, focusing on soft tissues to relieve pain, improve performance, aid rehabilitation, and sometimes address behavioural changes linked to physical discomfort, often incorporating exercise guidance and lifestyle advice.

Benefits:

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Relaxes tight muscles

  • Improves fascial movement & circulation

  • Alleviates compensatory movement or tightness

  • Alleviates pain

  • Improves range of motion

  • Improves circulation, mobility and more.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy is extremely beneficial for dogs and is applied across a range of applications. It can effectively treat diseases, injuries and conditions such as tissue injuries (including strains and sprains) and arthritis.

Class 4 Cold Laser is effective in reducing pain and limiting progressive swelling.

It helps conditions such as:

  • Arthritis pain.

  • Surgical incision & wound healing.

  • Post surgical healing

  • Soft tissue injuries, such as tendon or ligament sprains or strains.

  • Mobility issues such as hip dysplasia, spondylosis and more.

PEMF and Ultrasound

Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field (PEMF) & Ultrasound therapies are used to enhance a rehabilitation program, or recovery from injury.

PEMF works to help accelerate the ability of cells and tissues to heal faster by tapping into the natural healing frequency. This additional support allows cells and tissues to regenerate quicker and reduces the stress on the cells, achieved through stimulation.

PEMF therapy helps:

  • reduce pain and inflammation in bones, muscles and joints.

  • osteo-arthrosis, arthritis or joint pain.

  • bone consolidation after fractures.

  • reabsorption of bone oedema and in many other cases.

Ultrasound therapy helps:

  • Treat various musculoskeletal pathologies like osteoarthritis, soft tissue shoulder pathology, and myofascial pain.

  • Ligament & tendon injuries.

  • Reduce scar tissue and more.
